Speed Development Trainer
Jet Speed Athletics was built on a simple belief: talent alone isn’t enough—athletes need to understand how to express it. Too often, speed is treated as something you either have or don’t, rather than a skill that can be developed through proper technical guidance. Our “why” is rooted in helping athletes connect the biomechanics of their sport to how they move, accelerate, and perform, so their natural ability shows up when it matters most.
We work alongside team sport coaches, not in place of them, because reaching an athlete’s full potential requires a collaborative approach. Team coaches are responsible for so much—strategy, culture, and competition—that they often don’t have the time to provide the level of individualized speed development athletes need. That’s where we come in, offering focused attention and specialized training that complements what athletes are already doing within their team environment.
The results speak for themselves. Jet Speed athletes have earned All-American honors more than 15 times, become state champions over 10 times, and finished as state runner-up more than 5 times. We’ve helped develop countless state and national qualifiers, and two of our athletes have gone on to compete at the NCAA Division I level on full scholarship.
Coach Jay brings that same standard to every session. As a youth athlete, he was a TAC All-American and famously ran under two minutes in the 800m and under 50 seconds in the 400m within about a 30-minute span. He went on to become a six-time state champion, held the state record in the 800m for 33 years, and competed at the NCAA Division I level.
What sets Jet Speed Athletics apart is the combination of proven experience, technical precision, and a commitment to individualized development—something you’ll see throughout this site in our programs, philosophy, and approach to building speed that translates.
What is Speed Development?
The Jet Speed Approach
Speed development begins with technical understanding and expertise—learning how the body should move, how force is applied, and how efficient mechanics create faster, more powerful motion. Athletes are introduced to the fundamentals of acceleration, posture, stride mechanics, and coordination so they have a clear framework for what effective movement looks and feels like. This phase builds awareness and gives athletes the tools to make intentional adjustments.
From there, the process evolves beyond simple “how-to” instruction. True speed is not created by rigid thinking, but through a guided exploration of body positioning, connection, and rhythm. Athletes learn to feel timing, apply force naturally, and coordinate movement patterns in a way that fits their unique build and sport demands. The Jet Speed Approach bridges structure and freedom—developing athletes who not only understand speed, but can consistently express it.
